What is a Main Currency / Pocket Currency?

Overview

"Why can't I see my funds?" A Complete Guide to Main Currency and Pocket Currency

Have you ever been frustrated because you couldn't start a trade even after making a deposit? This usually happens due to our platform's unique "Main Currency" system. To ensure a smooth and accurate trading experience, here are the two core concepts you need to know.

1. Main Currency: "The Engine of Trading"

The Main Currency is the specific currency currently activated for actual trading on the platform. Think of it as your "primary wallet"—it determines which funds you are taking with you to the market.

Core Principle: All trade margins and executions are processed exclusively using the balance of your designated "Main Currency."
Important Note: No matter how many other currencies you hold in your account, you cannot use them for trading unless they are set as your "Main Currency."

How to change your Main Currency

You can change your Main Currency directly on the trading screen.

  • Simply click on the currency you want to trade with
  • The selected currency becomes your Main Currency instantly

2. Pocket Currency: "The Smart Vault"

Pocket Currencies are individual wallets where assets not currently in use for trading are securely stored by currency type.

There are a total of 9 Pocket Currency available, and you can select any one of them to be your Main Currency.

Automatic Sorting: When you deposit funds, the system automatically identifies the currency and places it into its corresponding "Pocket" (e.g., a JPY deposit is automatically moved to the JPY Pocket).
Storage Only: Funds in these pockets are in a "stored" state. Think of them as being kept in a vault; they cannot be used directly for trading until you switch your Main Currency to match that specific asset.

3. How trading works

① Main Currency (Currency used for trading)

On the right-hand panel, check the Main Currency section.

 - In this example, the Main Currency is set to USDT

 - All trades are executed using the Main Currency balance only

 - The Main Currency balance shows USDT 0.00
→ This means trading is currently not available

Main Currency defines which currency is actively used for trading.

② Pocket Currency (Currency storage)

Below the Main Currency section, you can see Pocket Currency.

 - Pocket Currency store funds by currency

 - JPY Pocket Currency: ¥5,000

 - USD / EUR / GBP Pocket Currency: 0

 - Deposited funds are automatically stored in the matching Pocket Currency

Pocket Currency balances are for storage only and cannot be traded directly.

③ Why can’t I trade? (Based on this screen)

Current status:

 - Main Currency: USDT

 - USDT Pocket: 0

 - Total Balance: USDT 31.33

 - JPY Pocket Balance: ¥5,000

Even though you have funds in JPY, because your Main Currency is USDT, trading is not available.

④ How to fix this

You have two options:

Option 1 Trade using JPY

Simply click on JPY pocket Currency

Your JPY Pocket balance (¥5,000) becomes tradable

Option 2 Trade using USDT

Deposit USDT

Keep Main Currency set to USDT

Changing the Main Currency does not convert funds. All Pocket Currency balances remain unchanged.

4. Glossary

① Free Margin

Free Margin shows how much is available for trading

It is calculated only from your Main Currency balance

If Free Margin is 0, trading is not available.

② Total Balance

  • It includes all currencies you hold

  • Total Balance is informational only

Total Balance does not mean all funds are tradable.

③ Balance by Currency

  • This section shows how your funds are distributed across currencies

  • It reflects your Pocket Currency balances

  • Helps you quickly identify where your funds are stored

④ Common situation explained

  • Main Currency: USDT

  • USDT balance: 0

  • JPY balance: ¥5,000 (not shown in Client Portal)

In this case:

  • Total Balance is shown

  • Free Margin is 0

  • Trading is not available

Reason: Your Main Currency (USDT) has no balance.
